As a Parent you might wonder whether your child is in need of some special assistance with their day-to-day challenges.
Some Conditions that are an indication that Primitive Reflexes may still be active or have been triggered due to high fever, a head blow or other accident, environmental toxic exposure or diseases are the following:
- Gives up easily
- Overly dependent- fear of separation from loved ones; clingy
- Social embarrassment- shyness, isolation, acts “invisible”
- Speech Delay
- Reacting rather than responding in classroom
- Floppy muscle tone or toe walker
- Eating Disorders
- Hypersensitivity of senses – bright lights, loud sound, high frequency sound, textures, labels, wind or water in face, sudden change in head position
- Frozen state- unable to think or move
- Difficulty making eye contact
- Reluctance to try new activities – dislike of change; inflexibility
- Develomental delays
- Perfectionism, fear of failure, Lack belief in Self
- Defiant behavior – aggressive outbursts
- Autism; selective mutism
- Vestibular challenges – balance, coordination- dislike playing/tumbling, motion sickness- amusement park rides
- Vision Challenges -Delayed binocular vision and distance vision, difficulty tracking a ball, erratic eye movement making reading hard, inability to filter out irrelevant information or process rapid visual stimuli
- Poor concentration- easily distracted and fidgety – Hyperactive
- Poor coordination-difficulty with gross or fine motor skills-clumsy
- Poor long and/or short-term memory
- Irritation caused by labels or textures
- Bedwetting
- Dyslexia – reversals
- Difficulty Crossing Midline
- Lack of impulse control
